The purest bread culture: tradition since 1688

There is evidence that the baker's trade was practised in the house at Marktplatz 11 in Gmunden in 1587, but probably much earlier. The Reingruber family, for their part, began baking bread in 1688 and acquired the house in Gmunden's "Bäckerwinkel" in 1827. Over the centuries, the bakery defied the adversities of history and the business was developed step by step. In recent years, one building site in the house replaced the other, and no sooner was the building site finished than everything was already too small again.

In 2019, after several years of planning, the construction of a new bakery in the neighbouring community of Pinsdorf began. And so, on Saturday 23 May 2020, after almost half a millennium, the last Salzstangerl left the venerable old bakery at Marktplatz 11!

Since Monday, 25 May 2020, 16 skilled bakers have been enjoying the wonderful working conditions in the new production building! They all carry the essence of centuries of bakery experience into a new era - and the Reingruber generations 9 + 10 + 11 are right in the middle of it instead of just being there!
