The UTC Weibern
The ground-breaking ceremony for the UTC Weibern tennis centre was held in 1975, and within a year the new tennis centre with two courts had been built in Pesendorf. In August 1976, yellow felt balls flew over the net for the first time in Weibern's history. The two tennis courts were badly affected by a flood in September 1977. The clubhouse was built by the club itself in the early 1980s and opened in 1983. In 1985, the club officials decided to add a third court, which was completed in 1987. In the following years, a number of smaller renovations were carried out on the club grounds. Under the leadership of section manager Helmut Stadlmayr, both the clubhouse and the tennis facilities have been renovated and remodelled in recent years.
The section currently has around 100 active members. Youth work has been a top priority at the club for many years, and children and youth training is organised within the club all year round. Weibern can proudly claim to have a national youth champion in its ranks. Philipp Möseneder achieved this sensational success in the U10 competition in Bruck an der Mur in 1998 - and this is just one of many successes that the club members can take pride in.
