When the old "Stoabäuerin" from Schnürberg died of old age in 1988 and the estate was no longer managed by her heirs, the municipality of St. Roman took over the "Stoabauerngut" to house the local history museum. The 300-year-old farmhouse contains exhibits and furnishings from the former way of life and work at the old "Stoabauerngut". Tools for the kitchen, barn and fields from the neighbourhood and beyond show the variety of long-forgotten agricultural implements and everyday utensils made of wood and stone. Special exhibits in the "Stoabauernhaus" include a ribbon loom, a wooden washing machine, a Bavarian art calendar and a 280-year-old wooden plough. The St. Roman local history centre not only brings rural traditions back to life, it also hosts cultural and social events such as local history evenings and poetry readings.
