Both flat and hilly landscapes between 400 and 500 metres above sea level are characteristic of the Weilhartsforst. The area of the Weilharts- and Lachforst is 104.71 km2. The following municipal areas make up a large part of the Weilharts- und Lachforst: Geretsberg, Hochburg-Ach, St. Radegund and Überackern The forest has been a groundwater conservation area since 1997 and is part of the Seelentium holiday region www.seelentium.at and is particularly interesting as a natural treasure for cyclists and hikers. The centrepiece is the waterworks in Weilhartsforst, where three wells with a depth of 55 to 67 metres have been constructed. Moraine gravel predominates in the Upper Weilhartsforst, remnants of the Salzach glacier. In the Upper Weilhartsforst to the south, there are several near-natural still waters and fens as well as the Huckinger lakes.
