Legend has it ... ... that Kasten became an elementary school affiliate of St. Peter am Wimberg in 1802. The school building and its little church tower date back to 1812. The so-called "bell house" hosted one single classroom for all classes and levels. Both the old and young visitors are fascinated by the plain classroom atmosphere. You are welcome to take a seat on the narrow benches and listen to former teachers and pupils telling school anecdotes of former times. The building further features a small headmaster's office (also used to store teaching aids) and a farm-style living room that provides an insight into rural lifestyle back in the good old days. Further architectural highlights: bell house roofed with wooden shingles; passion cross on the western facade of the building.
