We are talking about the romantic church on the mountain - also better known as the Calvary Church.** Baroque art in Hallstatt ------------------------ Around **24,000 curved larch shingles** were needed to save the **Calvary Church** in the [**World Heritage town of Hallstatt**](https://dachstein.salzkammergut.at/hallstatt.html?utm_campaign=tourdata&utm_medium=text&utm_source=tourdata) from decay. The curved roof shape was restored to its original form a few years ago. The church dates back to **1711** and, together with the **Stations of the Cross chapels** , was donated by a childless court clerk couple who also wanted to have their **final resting place** there.
