The "Heimatstube" - previously located in the Bad Schallerbach primary school - is now housed on the 2nd floor of the town hall. It provides direct contact to local history for school children and the public. Visitors can find old rural cultural artifacts, former tools, documents, old books, and certificates from past times. The exhibits are mostly donations from the local population. Fish teeth from the "Freitag-Sandgrube" are relics from the deposits of the ancient Tertiary Sea. The oldest finding is a bronze axe (Middle Bronze Age - approx. 1500 BC) that a farmer unearthed on Müllerberg. The collection traces back to the former headmaster of Schönau Primary School and honorary citizen Georg Mairinger. Under the direction of Primary School Director and honorary citizen OSR Kons. Alfred Rockenschaub, the collection was expanded and established as the Heimatstube in the primary school in 1971. Due to renovation and remodeling measures at the primary school in 2017 and 2018, the collection was relocated to the town hall. There, it found a new home on the 2nd floor of the town hall and was newly arranged with great attention to detail under the guidance of our honorary citizen and archivist OSR Kons.
