Pfaffstätt

Pfaffstätt, Oberösterreich, Österreich
Tucked away in the folds of scenic Mattig Valley, the tiny and picturesque village of Pfaffstätt nestles among the gently rolling foothills of the Alps. There is evidence of an early Stone Age settlement here, as the area provided a rich supply of fish and venison.

The idyllic rural commune is embedded in Mattig Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty rich in dense woods and lush green pastures and meadows. The versatile fauna and flora of Ibmer Moor lends itself to outstanding nature exploration. There are great remote trails for hiking, cycling and horseback riding. And when it comes to splashing & wet fun in the warm summer sun, the two idyllic Ibmer Lakes are just the places to come and play!

Our village was the hometown of Martina Hinterberger, the Giantess of Pfaffstätt, who was born here in 1906. At the age of 17 she stood over 2.31 meters tall and joined the world famous escape artist Tom Jack to tour the world. She traveled all over Europe and to the United States before she returned to her hometown in 1929. Her niece, Ms. Franziska Ehart today lives in nearby Braunau and possesses interesting photographs and letters.

Pfaffstätt offers an eclectic life style appealing to a wide variety of people from the most physically active to those wanting to bask in nature. Some 15 local associations and organizations provide a wide array of arts, sports and cultural events. This simply is a great place in which to relax and enjoy yourself!
