From there the route travels south-east, after approx 50 m branch to the right. A sign indicates to the Theklakapelle. The route leads through the wood upwards. The signs are red-white-red. Keep to the left at two forks in the path to reach the Theklakapelle. Thekla wa a martyr who devoded her life to her faith. A small bride crosses the Klausbach. Some of the water here flows underground from the mountain and only emerges again when it reaches the lake. The Drachenwand inludes the Klausbachhöhlen. This is an enormous system of caves with dripstones and a lake. Unfortunately the cave system is not accessible. The ascent now starts to the highest point of the walk, the Almkogel (1030 m). Enjoy the beautiful view! Then continue along the forest path to the lovely Eibensee, offering an inviting cooling dip. The walk then continues down along the brook until just before Fuschl am See, over the brook, then up to the Ruine Wartenfels (665 m). This was originally used as a court for stewards and then a robber knight's castle. The ascent to the castle (app. 10 minutes) is worth the effort due to the stunning panoramic view and sun terrace. Those with stamina can continue from the Ruine Wartenfels to the Schobergipfel (1328 m). This ascent is secured with wire cables. Schobersüdgrad offers climbing routes with varying degrees of difficulty. From there descent the mountain through a pretty wooded route at the foot of the Schober and the Drachenwand back to the starting point. Rest stops: Gasthof Drachenwand, inns in Fuschl am See and Berggasthof Schlößl. If you are lucky and quiet you might be able to catch a glimpse of roe deer and stags, of moufflons and chamois on the steeper areas. In winter and early spring many Christmas roses blossom here, and in eary summer the stemless gentian comes into flower.
