A starting point to the Gowilalm is at the Flinderlmühle in Oberweng near Spital am Pyhrn, car park between the Singerskogel snack bar and Goslitzbauer in Oberweng. From here, trail no. 616 leads steadily uphill on a forest path to the Gowilalm. 616 leads steadily uphill on a forest path, mostly in the shady mountain forest to the Gowilalm. The lower section of the path is also part of the "Oberwenger Panoramaroute" mountain bike route. From here, hike back to the Holzeralm via hiking trail no. 617/618. From there, the hiking trail leads through the romantic Goslitztal valley across flowering alpine meadows past the Stefansbergalm (partly farmed). The Gowilalm is the starting point for the summit tour to the Kleiner Pyhrgas (2.023 m) - hiking trail no. 617 and 1.5 hours walking time or to the Great Pyhrgas (2,244 m) - hiking trail no. 616 and approx. 3 hours walking time.
