Witnesses of the Ice Age - An expedition to the glacier garden in the Echerntal

The hike to the glacier garden

The hike begins at the parking lot in Echerntal and leads along the Waldbach (stream) and back to the glacier garden which is a relict of the last ice age about 12 000 years ago. This was discovered in 1926 and made accessible to visitors. The path continues to Klausalm, where the magnificent view of Hallstatt with the Lake Hallstattcan be enjoyed. The beautiful view of the valley rewards the ascent.
