The crossing from **Mondsee** to **Fuschlsee** is one of the "gentler" stages of the Salzkammergut BergeSeen Trail. The path requires a bit of orientation below the Schober – but before and after that, it offers plenty of leisure to admire the landscape. In the middle, a rest stop awaits you, whose culinary offerings promise additional energy for a short ruin detour. **Directions:** From the tourism office in Mondsee, walk the route of stage 5 back to the junction before Schwarzindien. After the Yacht Club Schwarzindien, however, turn right, cross the federal road, and briefly follow Höri-bachstraße (marking no. 10). Then take a path branching left past the Höri-bach cultural heritage site until you reach the road again. Stay right on this road, walk through the settlement and further to the **Fuschler Ache**. Crossing the Mühlbach and then left over the bridge of the Fuschler Ache (always following Höri-bachstraße) to a farm. Right after the signpost "Wartenfels, Schober" a few steps to a modern chapel, before which you turn left again. Soon a hiking trail leads up to **Obernberg**. There, turn right to a street, which you follow to the left. After a curve, turn left onto a forest road, which you shortly leave again to the right on path no. 10. Now continue ascending through the forest slopes under the rocky Schober until – finally in somewhat winding forest road ups and downs crossing the Salzburg state border – you reach the parking lot of the **Forsthaus Wartenfels** (924 m). 3:00 h The detour to the ruins of Wartenfels Castle, built in 1259, is definitely worthwhile; an additional 30 minutes round trip. Afterwards, hike down on path no. 10 towards **Fuschl**, first through forest and then over meadows near the **Gehöft Musch**. At the bottom, you pass a golf course at the **Waldhof Alm**. Turning right you finally reach Ebner’s Waldhof on Fuschlsee and the promenade on Seestraße, where you stroll into the center of Fuschl am See (699 m). The tourism office Fuschlseeregion is located at the village square. 1:00 h **Tip:** Summit detour to the Schober (1,328 m). **Safety guidelines:** - In alpine terrain, be aware of the danger of falling rocks. - Until early summer, you may encounter steep snowfields or firn gullies there – especially when icy there is acute danger of falling and thus life-threatening! - Due to storm damage, forestry work, or construction measures, some sections of the path may be difficult or even impossible to pass temporarily. - Cows on the alpine pastures are often curious. Due to mother cow husbandry, they develop a strong instinct to protect their calves. So move calmly on cow pastures, keep at least 20 m distance from the animals, and never pet calves! In case of threatening behavior (scratching, stamping), slowly walk backwards away (do not turn your back). Dogs must be kept on a leash; they must not bark at or chase cows. In an attack, you must definitely let them off the leash. **Equipment:** For all stages you need hiking or mountain shoes with profiled rubber soles as well as wind- and rainproof clothing. Spare clothes to change and a small emergency first aid kit should also be in the backpack. How much provision you pack depends on the number of places to stop. In any case, you should take enough to drink.
