Classics can be found in the vertical library, which extends over four floors up to the roof and is wrapped in a spiral by the central staircase. You can look and linger... and if you like a book, you can take it to your room or read it in the Silencio, in the living room or in the garden on one of the cradle beds.
In the dining room, countless cookery books await you and encourage you to cook. You can also book the guest kitchen and cook for yourself or with friends, or with one of our chefs, who can also book you as a coach. (
In the reading hotel, you can order breakfast all day long (we don't have fixed times!) and, if you want, you can also enjoy it in your Plug & Play reading and reading aloud bed. But maybe you'll also be tempted by mountain biking, climbing wall, snowshoe trail or cross-country ski trail?

Exit Thalgau via the B158 federal road towards Bad Ischl, in Bad Ischl take the B145 Salzkammergut road towards Bad Goisern.
from Linz:
Regau motorway exit onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 towards Gmunden and Bad Ischl as far as Bad Goisern.
from Vienna/Graz:
Liezen motorway exit onto B320, in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Goisern.
from Villach:
Tauern motorway to exit ‘Eben im Pongau’, via B166 Pass Gschütt Bundesstraße through Gosau, turn left at the Gosaumühle junction towards Bad Goisern.
in Bad Goisern:
At the Goisern Mitte roundabout, turn off in the direction of Lasern and follow the road uphill to Wurmstein. Our hotel awaits you there with a breathtaking view over the valley, the surrounding mountains and Lake Hallstatt.

Dr. Silke Seemann is an economist and has spent the last thirty years renovating and living in the Praunsperglerische House with her family. Thanks to the support of the empathetic craftsmen of the region, the house turned into Hallstatt Hideaway in 2014. She enjoys it as her temporary home and a place to rewind with guests from all around the world.
Dr. Seemann teaches Strategic and Innovation Management and Human Resource Policy at the University of Salzburg and the University of Innsbruck. Being an organizational consultant she cooperates with the Zukunftsinstitut in Vienna in regards to the complexity of resource analysis and designing strategic leadership of future research and systemic strategy advice.
Her widespread know-how and expertise have also shown useful in creating the concept for Hallstatt Hideaway and her chosen hometown, which is a jewel that should be cherished by ensuring smart tourism. Most of the historic houses located on Hallberg can only be renovated using archaic construction methods. The construction site facilities alone generate ever increasing costs. Above all, there is also a problem of resource availability, since it is almost impossible to find workers in Middle Europe to do such heavy construction work.
