Hike to the Schafberg mountain via Oberburgau If you want to hike on the Schafberg you don’t have to start from St. Wolfgang. You can also start from Unterach.
The starting point is in Oberburgau at the Gasthof See. Keep right and cross the bridge to Oberburgau. At the houses keep left and walk uphill. After half an hour cross the forest road and follow the way to Eisenaueralm. It’s situated at an altitude of 1000m. To our right there is a managed hut called Buchberghütte. Behind the hut there is a trail uphill the forest.
After 45 minutes you reach the Suissensee. Keep right and hike the path "Purtschellersteig" up to the Schafberg lakes. Now it's not far to the summit. Here we enjoy at an altitude of 1782 m and a wonderful view of the lake Attersee. Strengthen yourself in the Himmelspforthütte for the descent.
