Parish Church of Weibern

The late Gothic parish church was built around 1500 and is dedicated to St Stephen. The nave consists of a single-nave, five-bay nave with a ribbed vault made of octagonal stars. On the north side of the nave is a large oil painting depicting the descent of the Holy Spirit on Mary and the apostles at the Feast of Pentecost in Jerusalem.
However, the main focal point of the church is the richly decorated high altar, which stands in the presbytery. The high altar, the two side altars and the pulpit were most likely created in 1687. On the south side of the nave is the altar of the Virgin Mary, which depicts Mary with the infant Jesus. On the north side of the nave is the Michaelmas altar, which depicts the archangel Michael with a flaming sword.
The pulpit is also very interesting. It shows the evangelists Matthew, Luke, Mark and John on the parapet. In an extension to the nave is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, which contains a Gothic baptismal font. The larger-than-life Madonna and Child was created by the Bavarian sculptor Kupka.
