The Alpengasthaus is situated at 1,240 m above sea level on the Hütteneckalm, a wonderful hiking area. The Peinsteiner family uses local produce. The homemade pastries and fresh dumplings with coffee are very popular.

Great views of the mountains of the Inner Salzkammergut

The easy and leisurely hike to the Hütteneckalm is also particularly suitable for families. There is a petting zoo, a playground and plenty of space for children to play and run around.

The Peinsteiner family spoil their guests with local delicacies and even bake their own bread - if there is enough time.

The Hütteneckalm in  Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt is worth a trip. Walking time from Berghotel Predigstuhl in Wurmstein via the Rossmoosalm about 1.5 hours.

The large sun terrace invites you to linger, with a tasty Brettljause you can really relax.

In winter the hut is open from the end of December to mid-March (sh. The Hütteneckalm is open every Saturday and Sunday in winter (you can reach it with snowshoes or touring skis or via Pichlern - Flohwiesen car park).

In winter, the hut is open from the end of December (see website www.huetteneckalm.at) also on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays until mid-March.

In summer the hut is open from middle of May till October 26, 2025.

Specialties

There is no fixed menu - a blackboard at the hut shows you the dishes on offer. Always freshly prepared and there's something for everyone, including meat-free dishes of course.

The freshly prepared dishes from the wood-fired oven are a real treat for the palate.
The Peinsteiner family attaches particular importance to authentic dishes:
Here, for example, they serve fried potatoes - not chips!

The delicious schnitzels are baked in the pan just like in the old days and the so-called "Spotzn" are homemade with fresh eggs.

All pastries are lovingly homemade by the landlady.

If time permits, even the bread is baked in the wood-fired oven using rye and sourdough.

Accessibility / arrival

The famous Alpengasthaus Hütteneck is situated on 1.240 m. You will be stunned by the dircetly onto lake Hallstatt and the Dachstein glacier.

There will be two possibilities for arrival:

Variant 1:
Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt - roundabout traffic (B 145) - Lasern - Riedln - Wurmstein (6,5 km) - Predigstuhl - parking area.
From there you walk about 90 minutes to the Hütteneck hut via the Rossmoos Alm.

Variant 2:
Driveway from St. Agatha (B 145) - Pichlern via Halleralm to parking Raschberg.
From there you walk about 45 minutes to the Hütteneck hut.

Parking fees

There is a charge for the Predigstuhl parking lot. The Flohwiesen and Raschberg parking lots are free of charge.
