The Cafe Brandl, established in 1880, located on the ground floor of the Renaissance building of the Gmunden Town Hall, is one of the oldest coffee houses in the old town of Gmunden.

Since 1880, the “Brandl” has been welcoming guests in the heart of Gmunden, in the old town hall. Here, young and old alike gather to enjoy the day in a cozy atmosphere—true to the motto: “Pleasure is a tradition.”
Start your day at the Brandl with a delicious breakfast and a cup of aromatic coffee. Throughout the day, we’ll treat you to light bites and exquisite ice cream specialties, which you can enjoy in the summer on our cozy lounge terrace with a stunning view of Lake Traunsee.
When night falls, the Brandl transforms into a trendy party spot. Every weekend, we host amazing themed parties like “Boogie Meets Discofox,” hits from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s, hip-hop, R&B & Latin vibes, house, tech house, techno, and karaoke. We also host gin and wine tastings, art exhibitions, and much more. There’s something here for everyone.

We recommend traveling by public transportation!
By train:
Take the Salzkammergutbahn (Line 170) from Attnang-Puchheim Station to Gmunden Station; from Gmunden Station, take the Traunseetram (Line 161) from Stern & Hafferl to the Gmunden Rathausplatz stop; the same applies if coming from Vorchdorf Eggenberg or Gmunden Engelhof (Park & Ride). The stop is right nearby.
Numerous connections from Attnang-Puchheim Station to the mainline trains on the Westbahn line (Line 101) or via Gmunden to the Salzkammergut Railway toward Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, and Bad Aussee
By bus:
OÖVV bus lines 507, 505, or 533, as well as city bus lines from Gmunden (Gmunden Rathausplatz stop)
By bike:
Café Brandl is also very easily accessible by bike. The Traunviertel Tour, as well as the R4 Traun Cycle Path and the R2 Salzkammergut Cycle Path, pass by Rathausplatz and the Traun Bridge, respectively, approximately 200 meters away.
By car:
A1 West Highway: From Munich/Salzburg or Vienna/Linz—take the A1 Regau exit—follow the B145 to Gmunden; similarly, coming from Bad Ischl on the B145—head directly to the city center
Parking in the city center:
Underground parking garage approximately 200 meters away; numerous parking spaces in the city center (short-term parking zone during the day).
