Druckwerkstatt und Galerie Scheinhaus
Gaspoltshofen, Oberösterreich, Österreich
In 2004, the Scheinhaus in Gaspoltshofen found its new purpose as a printmaking workshop and gallery and since then has presented itself as the only publicly accessible gravure printing workshop in Upper Austria with a wide range of printing activities and a consistent exhibition programme in the field of "etching".
We offer a flexible, wide-ranging and individually tailored range of printing opportunities, such as taster days, one-day and weekly courses, offers for schools, children's holiday courses, artist-in-residence residencies and exhibition opportunities, and are always happy to give people interested in intaglio printing the opportunity to visit our workshop and take part in printing demonstrations.
In 2020, the Scheinhaus team initiated an application process with the UNESCO Commission in Vienna to have "manual image printing / printmaking" recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage. In November 2021, the submission was approved by the advisory board of the UNESCO Commission Vienna, and the Scheinhaus printing workshop and gallery have been "cultural bearers" ever since, a truly wonderful success for the Scheinhaus team and the town of Gaspoltshofen.
All courses and presentations in the Scheinhaus aim to preserve, maintain and pass on printmaking as a living "intangible cultural heritage".
