Evolution and advancement of plants and animals The varieties of fruit and garden plants developed over centuries represent an irreplaceable cultural and ecological wealth. The diversity of cultivated and wild plants and animal breeds is just as much a part of our cultural heritage as churches, castles, bratl and cider. It is part of our heritage, part of our regional identity.
It is up to us to preserve, pass on and further develop this ecological and cultural treasure.

Tasks and aims of the association:
The Hortus Association is a non-profit organisation and aims to
- the preservation and safeguarding of the diversity of species and varieties in the field of
fruit and garden plants and (farm) animal breeds from an ecological point of view
- to raise awareness of their importance and
- the maintenance and management of appropriate facilities, installations and dissemination opportunities
The area of the variety garden with an area of approx. 1 ha is located
is located on an old orchard that originally belonged to Ranshofen Castle.
A path with 5 large display boards guides visitors through the individual stations of the variety garden, providing interesting information about the association and fruit and wine growing.
