On the banks of the tiny town brook, Braunau operated three bathing facilities in medieval times: VORDERBAD, MITTERBAD, and HINTERBAD.
The buildings that are still existing today lie by the tiny town brook, which then used to supply the bathing facilities with water. Vorderbad is linked to Mitterbad and Hinterbad by a bridge. The Vorderbad bathing facility was in operation from the early 16th to the late 18th century.
In Austria, this Museum is second to none, introducing visitors to the history of medieval spa culture. There are only three Spa Museums in Central Europe, one of which is now open to visitors in Braunau. Go by yourselves at your own pace, whilst recordings with sound effects and artefacts tell you the impressive history of medieval spa culture.
