Schloss Tannbach Castle
Gutau, Oberösterreich, Österreich
- Suitable for groups
Welcome to the fairy tale! Tannbach Castle is a pretty, three-storey building on a rectangular base, with oriel turrets at its four corners with an onion-domed roof and lantern. The two narrow sides are characterised by curved gables that project over the roof; the front side, i.e. the side facing the farmyard, is emphasised by two mansards. The two gables of the mansards, together with the three eaves, create the impression of a double risalit.
The rear, which faces the forest, has a simple design, but the entrance here can only be reached via a brick plinth, as the ground here is lower than at the front. In the centre of the roof, an open ridge turret with a lantern is built in place of a tower. The neat and well-kept castle, which also includes a sizeable estate with a farm, is inhabited by a young family and farmed by local farmers.
No guided tours are offered.
Visits are only possible from the outside.
