Elegance & Serenity
Rooms are more than just the boundary of many walls. When noble charm, quality and loving flair flow into each other, rooms become an extraordinary living space.Schloss Kogl near St. Georgen near Lake Attersee was built in 1750 by the princely Khevenhüller family and is still both a living residence and an admired state room.
It was formerly owned by the Counts Khevenhüller and was sold in 1810 to Dr. Pausinger, whose son, a well-known painter, created the famous allegorical frescoes in the hall and also the hunting scenes in the dining room. Baron Mayr-Melnhof bought the castle in 1872 and gave it to his daughter Countess Kottulinsky as a wedding present in 1884. Countess Dorothea Kottulinsky was known as a great benefactress in the Attergau.
She had another storey built and the castle renovated.
Engelhart and Komlossy painted the excellent frescoes depicting scenes from Ferdinand Raimund's "Prodigal". Today the castle is owned by Baron Mayr-Melnhof, a nephew of Countess Kottulinsky, who lives in the castle with his family, which also includes an extensive forest estate.
A tour of the castle is only possible from the outside.
