Mühlgrub Castle

Pfarrkirchen bei Bad Hall, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • All weather

Schloss Mühlgrub houses the "Country Home Style" exhibition and sales rooms, the Schloss Mühlgrub cultural association and the Mediterranean restaurant Castello. The castle was built around 1600 and its original design had many towers. It was erected at the site of a “Hub” (a small farm) that had been in the possession of Kremsmünster Abbey from 1299 and was bought by the Mühlwagner family in 1415. This is how the place came to be called “Mühlgrub”. In 1891, Hans Hager founded a brewery here which was continued by the Fein family. In the 1970s Mühlgrub had the biggest filling plant in the world to bottle the fizzy drink “Schartner Bombe”. Since 2001 the building has been housing a sales exhibition of quality home and garden accessories through which the castle is now accessible to the public.
