The miners' cross was erected in memory of those miners who died in or outside the mine during the two centuries in which Wolfsegg coal was mined.
On the initiative of Father Schneebauer, an iron cross was erected in place of the dilapidated wooden cross, which was inaugurated on 14 September 1958. It was designed and manufactured by Heinrich Brunner from Kohlgrube, who worked at WTK at the time.
