Schlierbach Abbey | Cheese dairy tour - stained glass - panorama café
A century of the finest cheese tradition
For a hundred years, the Schlierbach organic cheese dairy has devoted all its attention to cheese and its production.

Visit the newly renovated Cistercian Schlierbach Abbey and discover many baroque abbey rooms as well as the magnificent abbey church. The entire building is now used for a variety of purposes.

Visit the collegiate church:
Summer months: 7.00 am - 7.00 pm
Winter months: 7.00 am - 5.00 pm

A religious community lives and works here and tries to practise the vocation of monasticism. Pupils from the grammar school enliven the many rooms, the smell of cheese wafts through the house, artists and craftsmen meet in the stained glass room and many visitors marvel at this colourful house.

A guided tour of Schlierbach Abbey is a journey of discovery into a spiritual world whose power and fascination is still alive today. Baroque splendour from the magnificent monastery church to the monastery library with its 12,000 valuable books. Tasting of 10 Schlierbach organic cheese specialities and a tour of the stained glass.

With the "In Sum More" guest card, you ll receive a 20% discount on the family ticket for the guided tour of Schlierbach Abbey with show dairy, stained glass and organic cheese tasting

.
The cheese dairy tour provides insights into cheese production and agriculture. Organic cheese specialities have also been produced in the abbey cheese dairy since 1999.
The panorama café was designed to form a complementary contrast to the historic architecture of the baroque abbey. The transparent building has a welcoming and friendly effect on visitors. It serves as a meeting zone, houses a monastery shop and offers plenty of space for exhibitions.
The Schlierbach cheese dairy was founded in 1924 and its first product was Schlierbacher Schlosskäse. This delicately flavoured soft cheese with red culture is still one of the organic cheese dairy's most important products today.
Programme: During the tour, we will show you the monastery rooms such as the Bernardi Hall, the library, the cloister with the Schlierbach Madonna, the organic cheese dairy's show corridor and the stained glass gallery, followed by a cheese tasting.
We also offer our guests cheese and wine tastings under the expert guidance of a cheese and wine sommelier.
