Pilgrimage Church at Gstaig

Among the village´s most precious possessions is the lovingly refurbished subsidiary church that is dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The Church at Gstaig probably was consecrated as early as in 1115. It first appeared in historical records in the year 1180. With the generous donation of the Miraculous Image of the Virgin Mary in 1764, the original subsidiary church became a popular place of pilgrimage. It still is visited by large numbers of people. The Church´s interior features the precious high altar with the Miraculous Image of the Virgin Mary and the Stations of the Cross and draws much appreciative comment from visitors.
