Pechöl Stone

St. Thomas am Blasenstein, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • Suitable for groups

One of the seven pitch oil stones in the municipality. Piles of resin-rich wood were usually erected on these stones over leaf vein patterns.
After prolonged, delayed burning, the precious pitch oil was extracted as a result of heat build-up. A medicine for humans and animals.

This stone is located on the S4 trail. However, it can also be reached by car followed by a short hike. 3.3 km after the turn-off on the right behind the large chapel of the Dechtlgruber estate.
