Mahnmal Treffling
Engerwitzdorf, Oberösterreich, Österreich
- Suitable for groups
The victims of Treffling - a reminder for peace! To mark the 45th anniversary of the executions in the final days of the Second World War, the municipality of Engerwitzdorf, together with the municipality of Peilstein, had a memorial erected in May 1190.
The Linz artist Dr Heimrad Bäcker was commissioned to design the memorial and was also extremely committed to its execution, providing all his work free of charge.
The memorial consists of a 1200 kg block of unhewn granite (it comes from the Poschach quarry near Perg), behind which plaques made of Voest steel with the names of those executed are arranged in a semicircle.
