The owner of the castle, Mathias Ferdinand Castner, had the Marian column erected in honour of the Mother of God in 1702 to avert the danger of war in Bavaria. The statue is located on the market square in Wolfsegg on a small green area at the junction of Obeltshamerstraße and the road towards Kohlgrube.
The Marian column is made of stone, the sandstone base was replaced by a granite base in the course of road construction in the 1960s.
