The eco-station as a nature information point (NIP for short) on the international Danube cycle path in Dornach is looked after and maintained by the Machland Nord district group of the Upper Austrian Nature Conservation Association on behalf of the municipality of Saxen. The aim is to familiarise interested visitors with the ecology of the floodplain, the flora and fauna and the historical development of the Danube in this region.
The rest area, which was created in cooperation with the local farming community, hunting and fishing organisations and the Danube-Machland-Strudengau Cycle-KulTOUR interest group on land owned by Austrian Hydro Power (VERBUND), is also intended for recreation, information and relaxation.
The site is freely accessible to all visitors. Use is at your own risk. Please keep the station clean.
Expertly trained nature and forest educators from the Upper Austrian Nature Conservation Association offer guided tours by prior arrangement on +43 (664) 9287811.
