With the inauguration of the parish centre in St. Georgen im Attergau, the old vicarage (chaplain's house) became available and can thus be used as a parish museum since 1995. The rooms also contain large parts of the extensive parish archives.

The treasures of the parish, an extensive collection on popular piety, the guilds in St. Georgen and old sources of light are the focal points of the museum. A document archive complements the exhibition.

Of particular importance are the indulgence letters in the collections, as St. Georgen im Attergau owns the oldest indulgence letter in Upper Austria from the year 1299. Religious books, old prints, liturgical vestments and utensils as well as the presentation of the history of the parish of St. Georgen round off this thematic area.

In a wealth of objects, the museum is dedicated to the various expressions of popular piety. Pilgrimage souvenirs, rosaries, crosses, wax objects and monastery works bear witness to the diversity of Christian religious faith of the past and present.
