As early as the end of the 14th century, wood was felled in the forests of the Reichraminger Hintergebirge. The wood was transported by water on the drift paths. It was not until the First World War that a forest railway was built, which led, among other things, from the "Wallerhütte", today's Holzknecht Museum, to the Schallau district.

The "Wallerhütte", where the Holzknecht Museum Reichraming is housed, was once the point of every evening retreat and the second home of the lumberjacks in the winter months. Their way of life and work in the 19th and 20th centuries is documented in the exhibition with tools, models and pictures.

On the upper floor of the museum, historically valuable brass objects and the impressive model of the Reichraming brass factory enrich the museum's exhibition.

In the museum's outdoor area, an elaborate apiary has been erected to provide an insight into the beekeeping practised by many woodworkers.

Here you also have the opportunity to taste original Holzknechtnock'n.
