"Palm Park" and statue The Palm Park is located directly next to the hospital complex and features a bigger-than-life bronze statue of Palm. Johann Philipp Palm, a bookseller from Nürnberg, was shot August 26, 1806, because he was propagating the document "Deutschland in seiner tiefsten Erniedrigung", which was prohibited at Napoleon´s times.
The Palm Park, which was a vegetable garden of the Community Hospital Church, was laid out in 1860. In the year 1866, a statue of Palm, made of bronze was erected. For this monument, Ludwig I, king of Bavaria, contributed 1000 Gulden. Today, the monument is located under old trees in the middle of a nice park.
