The angel shows the way!

Every year during Advent, a nativity scene is set up in Nußdorf am Attersee from the end of November to the end of January. Larger-than-life nativity figures are displayed in the music pavilion of the municipality of Nußdorf am Attersee. The figures depict people from Nußdorf and bear an astonishing resemblance to them.

Gradually, more and more nativity figures were created by female sculptors, including animals and secondary figures. In 2000, a few more figures were created, such as a pair of young brothers. The former owners of Ragginger are also in the group: he as the butcher with the sausage wreath in his pocket, she as the unforgettable landlady concerned about the well-being of her guests, and since 2001 also Hanni's aunt. The aristocratic crib visitor Baron Eugen von Ransonnet is already a considerable way back in time. The Three Wise Men were also a late addition to the Nussdorf nativity scene.

Today, the municipality owes the first developments in tourism in the municipality of Nußdorf am Attersee to him.

The man sized figures stand in the music pavilion in Nußdorf and are never overlooked by walkers or people passing by on the street.


The angel, which is placed above the cot announces
"Take a rest and look where the people of Nußdorf keep watch at the village cot at Christmas time - and at their ancestors!"

The figures were made according to own designs by Mrs Nora Brünnhofer.
She is a trained painter and sculptor and has been responsible for countless sets and masks at the Linz State Theatre since 1970.

When selecting the materials, special emphasis was placed on weather resistance and easy handling. Since the figures are larger than life, they need a lot of supporting hands to set them up.
