Diving Entry "Underwaterforest"

Schörfling am Attersee, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • All weather

In order to save time and air, you should swim on the surface, up to the buoys, and then locate the buoy on the outer right (250°, approx. 200 m). After a short rest, dive down along the buoy chain, which is anchored at a depth of 21 m. Soon, you will find yourself in the middle of an underwater forest.

Huge tree trunks lie scattered across the soft mud floor or protrude at a tilted angle out into open water, offering a mystical sight. The best way to dive back is to use your compass (course 90°) because at this depth it is dificult to see differences in the altitude. Up to approx. 10 m depth, you will continuously encounter trees that are almost vertical, but get smaller and smaller. At the coast, stop at around 5 m depth and dive to your left. A vertically- standing paddle indicates the exit.

The description of the diving spot on the information board is only available in German. You can find the English description in the catalog of Attersee Diving (available at the tourist offices in all villages around lake Attersee or online
