Since July 2019, the guest studio of the province of Upper Austria is available every month in Bad Hall for two artists. The artist studio, which is over 130 m² in size, is located on the 1st floor of the Rabl Villa and consists of 2 living and working spaces as well as a shared kitchen. Due to its quiet location, the studios are particularly suitable for writers, but there is also space for visual artists to work on a large scale.
The artist studios are only available to scholarship holders.
Artists with a connection to Upper Austria can apply, details on how to apply can be found at www.diekunstsammlung.atHistorical:
Built in 1866 according to the plans of the Viennese architects Derffel & Roth. Since the star architect Theophil Hansen was at a spa visit with Dr. Rabl that same year, it is certain that the construction site was visited and much expertise & ideas were exchanged. From 1867, the practice and residence of the spa doctor Dr. Johann Rabl were located in the house, where he cared for Franz Grillparzer and Ludwig Anzengruber, among others. Many exotic trees owe their existence in the spa park to him.
The villa is one of the oldest, preserved examples of bourgeois “world architecture,” its clear form distinctly reflects the influence of the Italian Renaissance.
A long dependence of the “spa hotel” (now “Miraverde”), owned by the state and currently rented.
