The Naturpark Attersee-Traunsee (Lakes Attersee-Traunsee nature park), which opened in autumn 2012, connects the two lakes with a very diverse mountain and valley landscape.

Since April 2021 is also the 1st Dark Sky Park in Austria.

Get inspired and have a look at the 360° tour!

Scattered across the land used for agriculture and forestry, copses, fringe communities along streams, orchards and larch meadows, mountain pastures as well as extensively utilised grassland and small moorlands make this region’s scenery very attractive. When you are out and about in the Naturpark, you will have many chances to enjoy the incredibly beautiful lake and mountain scenery of the Salzkammergut from numerous viewpoints.

The Attersee-Traunsee Nature Park is a protected landscape area and is therefore accessible at all times on designated hiking, cycling, and riding trails.

In the nature park, both people and nature are the focus, so we ask for a "Respectful Coexistence":
- Park in public parking areas and keep the landscape clean!
- Keep your distance from grazing animals and do not feed them!
- Stay on marked trails and keep your dog on a leash! THANK YOU!

The Nature Park Office in Steinbach am Attersee (Steinbach 5, 4853 Steinbach) is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. You are welcome to schedule an individual appointment.

  • always open (24/7)
