... the view that inspires!

Already in the Middle Ages, pilgrims were rowed across the lake to St. Wolfgang in the so-called "Plätten". Even animals, food and building materials found room in this practical and aesthetic boat. The flat bottom and the long, raised top, which serves as a landing stage, has stood the test of time. This typical Salzkammergut boat is also called "Traunerl" or "Fuhre". Rowing the "Plätte" is an art, because it is usually moved by only one person - similar to the gondolas in Venice.

In order to keep this age-old "Traunerl" tradition alive, a separate association was founded to ensure that this ship remains a symbol of Lake Wolfgang in the future.
