Nativity scenes in Christkindl

In the Christkindl parish office, two remarkable crib rarities are on display:

Mechanical Nativity Scene at the Christkindl Parish Court
In the mechanical nativity scene by Karl Klauda (1855 - 1939), nearly 300 figures carved from linden wood move through a detailed biblical landscape thanks to a unique mechanism.

Pöttmesser Nativity Scene at the Christkindl Parish Court
With 58 square meters and over 700 beautifully carved and dressed figures by South Tyrolean Ferdinand Pöttmesser (1895 – 1977), the Pöttmesser nativity scene is one of the largest nativity scenes in the world. The landscape was lovingly crafted later on by Josef Seidl from Steyr.

Plan at least 1 hour for your visit to Christkindl (church/nativity/post office) during the pre-Christmas season!
Also take advantage of the quieter time between Christmas and January 6th!
Advance registration is absolutely required for groups!

Opening Hours Throughout the Year
For groups of 10 or more, tours in the church and the nativity exhibition are possible throughout the year by prior registration at the parish office.
