The Central has been an integral part of Linz's cultural scene since the 19th century and was the longest-running cinema in the city. After the cinema had to be closed in 2006, it was converted into today's event center in 2010.

The Central is open for cultural events and offers space for cultural initiatives of concert organizers and theater groups in the city center. It is also bookable for private parties and corporate events in a special ambience and a professional environment.
