Seeleithensee und angrenzende Streuwiesen
Eggelsberg, Oberösterreich, Österreich
- All weather
The Seeleithensee lake in the Innviertel municipality of Eggelsberg is part of the overall Ibmer Moor complex. In addition to other, already protected areas of this largest moor complex in the whole of Austria, the Seeleithensee was placed under nature protection in 2001.
In addition to the almost 10-hectare lake, the neighbouring meadows are also part of the nature reserve, which covers a total area of around 67 hectares. It is surrounded by a reed belt. Like the entire Ibmer Moor, the Seeleithensee is an important breeding area for a wide variety of bird species that specialise in wetland habitats. Among others, the black kite, marsh harrier and common tern breed and live here.
