Buchenwald Ranshofen

Braunau am Inn, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The beech forest near Ranshofen is a nature reserve covering around 10 hectares, which is also very important for local recreation. It is above all the different types of forest vegetation that make up the charm of this landscape jewel.

In the steep slope forest areas, mainly English oaks and hornbeams grow. At the foot of these slopes and along the banks of the Enknach, alluvial forest areas colonised by alders and ash trees spread out. The status as a nature reserve allows the forests to develop naturally and old and dead wood also form an important part of this important habitat for plants and animals. This preserves the natural vegetation in its biodiversity and secures the long-term existence of a forest area of high recreational value for people.
