Arcobaleno Interkulturelles Begegnungszentrum
Linz, Oberösterreich, Österreich
Arcobaleno is an intercultural meeting center that promotes the coming together of locals and immigrants in order to counteract prejudice and xenophobia. In addition to German courses and language cafés, entertainment events for young and old are also organized.
Arcobaleno is an intercultural meeting centre offering opportunities for locals and immigrants to meet and overcome prejudices. It also offers educational and leisure activities, integration measures, information and counselling. The premises are home to an ÖIF-certified language course institute and an official ÖSD examination centre. The main aim of the centre is to bring together people of different origins, nationalities, skin colours, religions, etc. The aim is to reduce exclusion, prejudice and hostility. To this end, opportunities are created to get to know each other and act together and barriers that stand in the way (e.g. language problems, lack of information, etc.) are reduced. Living together enables learning with and from each other. Integration is understood as a mutual learning process based on equality, openness and tolerance. However, real integration does not fail because of the differences between people, but because of the different rights and opportunities. Therefore, the commitment to equality also plays an important role.
