Large and Small Library Hall

The frescoes in the large library hall are by Melchior Steidl. The main picture in elliptical form shows the twelve-year-old Jesus in the temple. The group of figures is placed in a room with a magnificent architectural design. This main picture is followed by the representations of the four church fathers: in the north St. Gregory the Great, in the south St. Hieronymus, in the east St. Augustine and to the west St. Ambrose. The pictures on the narrow sides of the hall show the three young men Altmann, Gebhard and Adalbero with the monasteries they founded, Göttweig, Admont and Lambach. Adalbero offering the model of the Lambach Church, as well as grandfather, father and brother of St. to see Adalbero. In the scroll below is the year 1699, which indicates the completion of the large library hall.

Reading wheel with magnificent inlay work

A revolving desk, which has a double desk as a base, is decorated with rich inlay work. It is unique (1730) and bears the collegiate, convent and staff coat of arms of Abbot Gotthard Haslinger (ruled 1725-1735).

Small hall with scenes from antiquity

Adjacent to the large one is the small library hall, an almost square room. The images are partly allegories of science and scenes from ancient history. The ground plan and elevation of the Trinity Church in Stadl-Paura shown here deserve special mention.
