After 3 years of playgroup rehearsals, Bianca Öttl

founded SPIEGEL-Treffpunkt Eggerding/Mayrhof in autumn 2013.

Children between 8 and 36 months attend the playgroup every week.

Why playgroup:

• So that mums/dads can consciously take time for themselves and their toddler

• To encourage the carers to adopt an attentive, observant and waiting attitude towards the child. So that it can grow well in its independence

• To build a good parent-child relationship

• To get in touch with like-minded people

• To exchange ideas with parents in the same situation

• To discover new things and remember tried and tested things

• To find recognition, affirmation and appreciation

• Sensory stimulation in a prepared environment (ideas)

• To increase joy in the child and look confidently into the future together
  

What's going on here:

In the age-homogeneous groups, modelled on Emmi Pikler and Maria Montessori, the children play, move and meet each other and are closely supervised by their mums/dads or grandmas/grandpas!

The playroom is prepared with play and movement materials from Pikler and Hengstenberg, which correspond to the respective developmental stage of the child. In the group, the children's movement development is not actively encouraged, but the environment is prepared in such a way that the children are motivated to try out and practise new movement possibilities through the materials on offer. The adults are instructed not to intervene in the children's movement development or provide assistance, but to be there for them as "silent observers". In this way, the children learn to recognise their abilities and their limits and to take care. Climbing equipment requires courage to reach new heights and a good sense of self - this increases the joy of discovery, creativity and playful movement.

The atmosphere is characterised by respect for the individual development and personality of the little ones. The adults accompany the children's learning processes through their observational attention and trust in their child's competence.
