In the spirit of our Rule of St. Benedict, “Ora et labora et lege” (Pray, work and read), KreisLesen pursues a mission. Because this is not just about offering books for free, but rather about preserving, exchanging and passing on knowledge and wisdom in order to create meaning as a pen.

Our concept is based on the principles of the circular economy. Books that were once loved and read find a second home and a new appreciation here. By passing on used books from our inventory, we actively reduce the need for new print runs and thus contribute to reducing the ecological footprint. But KreisLesen is not just about environmental protection. It's also about the beauty of rediscovery. Our shelves contain treasures from all eras and genres, from classics of world literature to contemporary bestsellers. Each book has its own story, waiting to be discovered by a new reader. And if you would like to discover our very old book treasures, visit our monastery library with over 60,000 copies from the last 900 years. We also invite you to linger in our cozy shop and read comfortably with a coffee in one of our reading corners.
