Hochlecken from Lake Taferklause

This charming alpine hike follows very well-marked trails to the Hochleckenhaus, a mountain hut at an elevation of 1,572 m in the heart of the Höllengebirge. This challenging hike offers a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Attersee.

The starting point for this route is the Taferlklaussee. From there, the trail heads south, initially climbing gently along a forest road above a gravel pit. The route continues past the source of the Aurach, winding through a forested area via numerous small switchbacks to the Aurachkar and the Antoniusbründl, which is a great spot to take a break.

The trail then continues uphill in switchbacks through the cirque. After a steep section, the route turns right. Here, you have the option to take Trail No. 827 up to the Hochleckenkogel.

The trail to the Hochleckenhaus leads to the right toward the rocky summit of the Jausenstein. After a hollow, a steep ascent follows, before the route finally leads across open terrain to the Hochleckenhaus. Sure-footedness is required on this section.
