Gaisalm via the Steig (narrow path)

Hiking Trail No. AV 822

This moderately difficult mountain hike in the Höllengebirge leads from the village of Kaisigen along Trail No. 822. The route passes through the Auboden and continues along a trail to the unstaffed Gaisalm.

Sure-footedness is required. Along the trail, there are steep sections secured with ropes, as well as a ladder and iron steps.

Once you arrive at the Gaisalm, a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains opens up before you.

From the parking lot in Kaisigen, the route first leads through a wooded area. Passing the Aubodenhütte, it climbs uphill in switchbacks and continues through dense mountain pine forests.

Shortly before the unstaffed Gaisalm huts, the trail rejoins hiking trail No. 820. From there, you can continue hiking toward the Hochleckenhaus. The Hochleckenhaus is open from April through October and can be reached in about 20 minutes.

The return trip follows the same route.
