Paths covering:
THE cozy classic on the Wurzeralm! Simple, short and as a destination a romantic mountain lake, which is nestled in front of steeply towering rock walls.
From the top station of the funicular, follow the sign "Brunnsteinersee". A wide comfortable path leads you - in front of the mighty backdrop of the Warscheneck - to the valley station of the Frauenkar lift, where you turn right to the nearby Brunnsteinersee. Back you go along the same path.
Alternatively, you can start the way back on the other side of the Teichlboden (duration: approx. 1 hour). There you can expect: a Kneipp path, an observation tower and the "Teichlschwund".
About the Brunnsteinersee:
This small, idyllic body of water glistening under the rocks of the Ramesch and the Rote Wand is home to newts and amphibians threatened with extinction. It is also the source of the Teichl, which from here makes its winding way through the moors at the Teichlboden.
This protected biotope has an interesting history: As recently as 7000 years ago, a larger lake existed here, which slowly silted up. 5000 years ago, the entire area was probably forested. Man cleared the forest to gain open pasture land. In the process, part of the felt moss probably started to slide, whereupon an upper and a lower bog were formed.
