From the Klausriegler Inn in Trattenbach, this well-marked hiking trail leads steadily uphill, across a pasture, through forests, and then across a high plateau to the summit of the Schoberstein (1,285 m).
In the immediate vicinity, the Schobersteinhaus invites you to stop for a bite to eat.
Note: A parking fee must be paid at the Klausriegler Alpine Inn. If you consume something, you get a token to use on the way out.
Alternative: Extend the hike by a good hour if you start from Trattenbach station. This takes you through the museum village "Im Tal der Feitlmacher".
Tip: With the descent via Mandlmais and Scheibachfall (mostly forest road), this summit tour becomes a circular hike.
